EXTENSIONS CARE GUIDE
RIGHT AFTER YOUR TRANSFORMATION INSTALL DAY
Avoid washing your hair for 48 hours after your install to let the color, wefts, rows, and your entirely new majestic look settle in!
Give your scalp some time to adjust as well. A little bit of discomfort is normal when getting a new Install, especially if you just switched to Hand Tied Wefts, had a huge length change, or are getting extensions for the first time. Give yourself a three day adjustment period to let your scalp get used to your new hair!
Remember to EMBRACE YOUR NEW EXTENSIONS
Wearing a new set of extensions is kind of like getting a new haircut ~ it takes a minute to get used to it! Be patient, and take the initial few days after your install to get to know your extensions and experiment with styling! If you have any questions during this adjustment period, feel free to text us at 734.331.8973 and we will have answers!

BRUSHING
Brush your extensions WHEN DRY slowly, gently, & twice daily {and especially before washing}, with a WetBrush or brush with flexible bristles
Brush extensions in small sections, holding one hand against the row/attachment point at your scalp to prevent pulling the hair or creating unnecessary tension on your rows
๐ธ
SLEEPING
At night, gently brush your hair before bed for maximum softness and minimum tangles
Sleep with your hair in a soft low braid {or two} or a gently twisted high bun/pony
Sleep on a silk pillowcase to prevent tangles and breakage of the extensions ~ Silk pillowcases are awesome for your skin too, theyโre super gentle, non~tugging, and they prevent wrinkles!

WASHING
48 {or more} hours after your Install, youโre ready for your first wash!
Gently brush your hair as directed BEFORE you get it wet
Put your hair in a low, loose braid or two for your first wash {and as many washes as youโd like going forward} to prevent causing excess tension from the weight of your wet extensions
1~2 TIMES PER WEEK use a gentle, color safe shampoo at your roots. Use a hydrating/moisturizing conditioner from mids to ends when washing. Be careful not to apply conditioner to your root! Too much conditioner there may cause slippage of beads/rows.
EVERY 2~3 WEEKS do a โReset Washโ by shampooing your extensions from roots to ends with a gentle clarifying shampoo to remove all product buildup. Then follow with your hydrating conditioner as usual
QUICK TIPS:
In between washes, dry shampoo is your bestie to preserve your color!
For a quick massage between your rows, take all your rings off your fingers, hold up a peace sign on both hands, rotate your fingers towards each other, and gently massage sideways back and forth between your rows of extensions to get a good shampoo lather and exfoliation. This feels like a dream, so linger on this step as long as needed!

DRYING & STYLING
After washing, squeeze your hair gently in a soft towel to remove excess moisture
Apply a leave in conditioner or detangling spray to your mids and ends to prep your hair for combing and styling
Section your hair by row and comb one row at a time gently with a wide tooth comb or WetBrush, starting with your bottom row and working your way to your top row. Work slowly and be careful not to catch your brush bristles on your attachment points/rows near your scalp
Once fully combed through, feel free to air dry your hair for a subtle wave, or braid your hair in two low braids for a more pronounced beachy wave once dry
With Curly Extensions, apply a gel definer, and diffuse your curls for beautiful volume and definition.
When prepping to style via blowdry, heat protectants & detangling sprays are amazing and highly recommended in the mids and ends
For a straight style, gently blow dry your hair row by row on low~medium speed & high heat until the hair is completely dry. Then pass over the hair once or twice with a round brush for volume/rounded ends, or a flat iron for smoothness
Feel free to get experimental with different texture wands like a deep waver for body waves, a curling wand for a classic glam look, or a clamp iron or marcel for curls and waves!
QUICK TIPS:
Avoid using heat over 300 degrees to style your hair. Your extensions will hold a curl like a dream! So using high heat often will cause unnecessary damage!

WHEN TO SCHEDULE MAINTENANCE
Reserve a Move Up Session with your Artist at B+R every 5-10 weeks {12 if you take EXTRA great care of your hair!}. Please do not neglect your extensions by waiting too long for a move up. Your hair will thank you if you take good care of it. Your extensions will last longer, and make your natural hair healthier over time with proper maintenance!
Plan ahead and text us to book: 734.331.8973
QUICK TIPS:
Hard water creates build up and brassiness, so you may like to come in for a Mineral/Buildup Removal Treatment at B+R once every 5~7 weeks, or as needed, to keep your extensions healthy and color balanced. Just let us know!
Schedule a Shampoo, Blowdry & Styling session with your B+R Artist at least once each month. You will look & feel like a million bucks, and your arms will thank you! This also gives you a chance to make sure your extensions are wearing well, are staying healthy & hydrated, and are in excellent condition for you to rock for many months to come!

IMPORTANT THINGS TO AVOID
Only your B+R stylist should apply any further color or treatments to your hair extensions
Products with Silicone, Keratin, & Sulfates will create tangles and are NOT recommended
Lightener {bleach}, Perms, and Blowout Treatments {ie Brazilian or Keratin Straightening} will severely compromise or destroy the hair extensions
Do not use heavy oil, hair masks, or excessive Olaplex on your hair extensions more than once a month, as these products often create buildup on the hair which will cause dryness and tangles
Be careful not to expose your extensions to spray tanners, โsun inโ, chlorine, or sunscreens as they can potentially discolor the hair
If you will be at the beach {salt water, lake water, or in a chlorine pool!}, spray your extensions until theyโre saturated with filtered water, massage a leave~in conditioner into your mids and ends, and style into a low braid to protect your hair while having fun in the sun!
